“The clock stopped the moment she left the state,” I drawled, leaning against the wall and crossing my arms over my chest. “What type of attorney are you? Because normally they know that and also that it’s not our job to handle that part. She has outstanding warrants. We hand her over. This is a conversation you will need to have with the DA’s office after she’s processed.”

He raised an eyebrow at me. “I understand that, and it’s understandable that you can’t separate yourself from—”

“Bad move,” Sander purred at a level the humans couldn’t hear.

I couldn’t agree more, smirking at the guy. “It has been over twenty years and she will probably get some type of probation. I don’t know. I don’t handle these types of crimes.” I held up my hand to him when he opened his mouth. “What I do know is she doesn’t feel bad about what she did.” I gave him a moment with that. “She’s upset people will find out that she birthed a retard.

“That’s how she still thinks of me even though I was always gifted and didn’t have any type of mental or physical disability.” I focused on her husband. “She doesn’t feel bad for lying to you. She’s pissed she got caught.” I gestured to the supes in the room. “And we sense that. I’m sorry you’re going through this, I am, but understand this isn’t about revenge or—”

“Of course it is,” Mom… No Stacey snapped. I couldn’t think of her as my mother now having learned what it truly meant to have a mother like Alena.

I ignored her and kept my gaze on West. “I was younger than your daughter out there when she ditched me before DCFS opened in the hood with faulty information hoping I would get lost in the system and they would never be discovered.” I swallowed a flinch when Dain, Sander, and Singh all looked at Stacey. “And I would bet they just sensed something worse.”

“Did you have a different plan for Sera that you wished you went with instead?” Sander asked, nodding when we heard Stacey’s heart flutter. “Did you think to make her have an accident?”

I swallowed loudly when it was clear that was the truth from the way Stacey reacted. I kept West’s gaze. “I’ve shown Dain what happened that day. He’s a fairy and can show you. Instead of helping her, you should be protecting your children. You’re not legally married to this woman. She’s—”

“You leave my children out of this,” Stacey snapped, standing and slamming her fists on the table. “You’re a monster. You were always a freaky little—”

“Stacey, Jesus,” West whispered, moving his hand over his face. “Who are you?”

I looked at Wade. “Whether she’ll admit it or not, those children are my half-siblings. This will all be reported on and made public record when it goes to trial and—”

“You just put the largest targets on them,” he seethed, catching on.

“None of this is Sera’s fault,” Dain snapped, pointing at Stacey.
